The habitat of migratory birds at Eulsuk Island

The habitat of migratory birds at the Nakdong River, stretching from Dadae-dong, passing through Jangnim-dong and Hadan-dong to Geumgok-dong of Buk-gu and to Myeongji-dong and Jungang-dong of Gangseo-gu, was designated and protected by the Korean government on July 13, 1966 as the Natural Memorial No. 179.

There are many small and big deltas, such as Eulsukdo Island and Ilung Island, which are well developed downstream of the Nakdong River. These deltas and riversides are where the fresh water and sea water merge and there are plankton, fish, shellfish and aquatic insects in abundance, thus making it an ideal habitat for the migratory birds.
